If you want to find actual papers, nothing beats dedicated databases or Google Scholar. ChatGPT can guide you on where to look but not fetch the papers itself.
Sometimes I ask ChatGPT to generate a list of papers on a topic but then I have to verify each one since some are fictitious.
From what I’ve seen, it can’t actually pull up real papers or links directly, but it’s great for explaining complicated concepts once you have the paper.
It’s cool how it can simplify complicated topics. Makes reading papers less intimidating for newbies.
I found that it sometimes makes stuff up which sounds very real. So double check any references it gives you!
Overall, it’s a neat assistant but not a database. Pair it with real research tools for best results.
It’s more of a tool to assist your research rather than replace databases, for sure. Like it helps you understand and organize info.
Just a heads up, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that help with research. Might be handy.
I think it’s best to use ChatGPT as part of your toolkit, not the whole thing. Helps with ideas and explanations but not a replacement.
Being new to research, I found it confusing because it sometimes blends real facts with made-up stuff. Be careful!
I've used it a bit to get summaries of papers but asking it to find specific papers is hit or miss. Sometimes it gives useful suggestions, sometimes just general info.
