I've been tryin out some of these AI coding helpers lately and honestly, while they seem cool and all, I noticed they're not really making me faster. Kinda strange 'cause everyone talks about how great they are for speeding up coding. Anyone else feeling like it's actually slowing them down sometimes? Like the whole positive buzz doesn't quite match up with real work speed.

I think these tools still need to improve their understanding of context to really be helpful for advanced devs.
Maybe the AI tools are more helpful in certain languages or frameworks? I’ve tried a few and results vary a lot.
Sometimes it feels like these AI tools add cognitive load instead of reducing it, which is ironic.
Some people just don’t like change and assume AI slowdowns are permanent, but I think with time these tools will get better suited for pros too.
I think it works better for beginners who don’t have tons of shortcuts memorized. For a pro dev, it just slows things down, especially if you know what you’re doing already.
Maybe AI tools are better for team environments where junior devs are paired with seniors? They could help juniors ramp up faster.
I’ve also read that some devs feel pressure to use AI tools just because it’s trendy even if it slows them down.
Personally, I turn off auto-suggestions most of the time to keep my flow. AI tools work better when you just ask for help rather than full-time assist.
I actually like using AI tools to handle repetitive stuff, but when it starts suggesting complex stuff, I have to be super careful. So yeah, can slow me down if I’m not careful.
Yup, totally get you. For me, the AI suggestions sometimes just interrupt my flow instead of helping. It feels like I spend more time fixin stuff it suggests than actually coding.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools. They mention some that might actually fit better with experienced workflows.
I’m curious if anyone has tips on how to use AI coding tools without slowing down experienced workflows?
Maybe it’s just the tools I tried but they often gave me suggestions that felt off or unnecessary. Took longer fixing those than writing the code myself.
The positive reviews online feel kinda exaggerated compared to my personal experience. Maybe marketing hype?
I feel like sometimes AI coding tools make me second guess my own skills, which slows me down more than the tool itself.
I guess as the tech evolves, these tools might get better. For now, they’re kinda like training wheels more than a performance upgrade.
Honestly, I’ve found that these tools help more with brainstorming or getting unstuck rather than straight up speeding coding.
Sometimes I wonder if the hype around AI coding tools makes people overlook their actual limitations. They’re not magic wands yet.
One thing I noticed is that AI tools sometimes suggest code that’s not optimized or idiomatic, so experienced devs have to spend time reworking it.
