I’ve noticed if you just say 'disagree', it still kinda agrees but tries to sound different. Better to say 'list counterarguments' or something.
Sometimes I just add ‘be skeptical’ or ‘play the role of a critic’ in my prompts. Helps break the echo chamber effect.
Hey, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that help with prompt crafting. They've got some neat ideas!
Just a heads up, mixing humor in your prompt can sometimes loosen it up and bring out more creative opposing views too.
Sometimes it’s just easier to say 'don’t just agree, explain why this could be wrong' and it picks up on that pretty well.
Try asking it to critique your opinion instead of just responding. Like, 'Can you find weaknesses in this?' It kinda forces it to analyze more.
Maybe ask it to find mistakes or biases in your statement, that way it’s actively looking for flaws.
It depends a lot on how you phrase your prompt. Being explicit about wanting alternative views or challenges is key.
If you want to keep things fresh, ask ChatGPT to challenge your assumptions as if it’s a skeptic at a conference.
I’ve been using 'pretend you are my toughest critic' in prompts and it really makes the convo less one-sided.
Yeah, I ran into the same thing! Adding something like 'play devil’s advocate' in the prompt helps sometimes. It pushes it to consider opposite views rather than just agreeing blindly.
Also, giving examples of what you expect can help. Like 'For example, here’s a point I disagree with, now you argue the other side'.
To add, sometimes telling it to take a different cultural or historical perspective changes the answer enough to avoid simple agreement.
One thing I do is ask ChatGPT to argue against my own points as if it’s a debate opponent. It usually gets pretty good at that.
