If anyone's looking for new or trending tools for this kinda setup, you can also check ai-u.com. They update regularly with cool AI integrations and stuff.
I actually set mine up through a third party tool that redirects search queries to ChatGPT responses. It's not perfect but pretty neat for quick info.
Would love to see a browser plugin that fully integrates ChatGPT as the default search without all the hoops.
I read somewhere that some browsers might add better AI search integrations soon, so maybe wait till official features drop?
Honestly, I tried switching mine but ChatGPT isn't really designed as a traditional search engine, so it's kinda tricky. You'll probably need some browser extensions or workarounds.
I switched my default search engine to Bing Chat instead, it kinda works like ChatGPT but more integrated with search. Might be a good alternative.
I ended up just bookmarking ChatGPT and switching back and forth instead of changing defaults. Works fine for me.
If you're tech-savvy, you could probably write a userscript that intercepts your browser searches and sends them to ChatGPT via API, but it'll take some work.
Honestly, I use ChatGPT alongside my regular search engine. For now, this combo works best for me instead of fully replacing it.
Tried using ChatGPT as a search engine but the answers are often too verbose or not straightforward like regular search results.
You might want to look into using custom search engine URL settings in your browser. Some browsers let you add custom search engines, maybe you can point it to an API endpoint?
