I heard some chatbots are programmed to detect suicidal thoughts and provide emergency info or suggest contacting professionals. Not sure how effective it really is though.
I tried telling a bot once that I was feeling really down, and it just gave me some generic advice about talking to friends. Kinda felt a bit cold, honestly.
I worry that some people might rely too much on bots and avoid seeking professional help which is really needed.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that focus on mental health support. Some of them have better programming for these situations.
It’s honestly brave of folks to reach out even to a bot when they’re feeling that way, considering how tough it is to open up.
It's kinda scary how reliant some people might get on chatbots for things like this. They just aren't humans, ya know?
Honestly I'm worried that if someone says that, the bot might not be equipped to actually help and could just make things worse by dismissing it.
I feel like bots can give immediate response 24/7 which is a big deal for someone in crisis, even if it’s not a full solution.
This topic is so important. Sometimes I feel like people underestimate how much AI could do in mental health support, but it’s also risky.
I once told a bot I was suicidal just to test it, and it responded with a message encouraging me to reach out to a crisis hotline. At least they have some safety features in place.
Does anyone know if these chatbots get better at understanding context over time when someone talks about their feelings?
