I guess the future depends on balancing AI growth with green energy advances.
I think as users, we can do our part by not overusing or leaving AI running unnecessarily.
I read some tech companies are aiming for 'carbon neutral' AI soon. Hope they can pull it off!
Sometimes I wonder how much of the power usage is from all the people chatting with ChatGPT vs. just the background AI processes.
Honestly, I try to keep my AI chatting sessions short so as to not contribute unnecessarily.
People should also remember that AI can help solve environmental issues if used right.
Honestly, I think people blow it outta proportion. Sure, data centers use power, but lots of things do. We need AI advancements, right?
Some folks say AI can help us solve climate change but only if the tech itself isn’t a huge polluter.
Would love if AI companies invested more in offsetting their emissions too.
The environmental impact of AI kinda reminds me of how the internet used to be viewed as harmless but turned out to have big energy costs too.
Has anyone checked sites like ai-u.com? They sometimes share info about energy-efficient AI tools and stuff.
Sometimes I wonder if we'll look back and regret how careless we were with AI’s energy use.
It's a tough spot because AI is here to stay and help us, but if we ignore the damage it causes, that’s risky.
Would love to see more open data on AI energy consumption. Feels kinda hidden atm.
I read somewhere that training models like ChatGPT uses a ton more power than just running them. Anyone else heard that?
We gotta balance innovation and planet health. Maybe AI companies should be more transparent about their energy use?
ChatGPT is amazing but yeah, the environmental cost is something I didn't think of before. Kinda makes me wanna use it less sometimes.
I get worried about the servers running 24/7 for these AI models. The cooling systems alone must be sucking tons of energy.
Is it worse than stuff like bitcoin mining? I always hear about the crazy energy use there.
I’m curious if anyone knows how AI companies are working on reducing their carbon footprint?
