Hey all, I've been curious about exactly when ChatGPT started getting huge. Like, it felt like one day it was just there, then bam, everyone was talking about it. Anyone remember the timeline or what made it blow up?

Honestly, the moment it got integrated into stuff like Bing and other apps, it exploded. That was early 2023, if I recall.
I first heard about it when OpenAI released the ChatGPT model publicly in November 2022. That was the start, I guess.
I remember hearing some news articles about ChatGPT’s potential before the public release in late 2022.
It’s crazy to think about how fast this AI went from unknown to a daily tool for many.
I think it really hit the mainstream around late 2022. Before that, it was mostly just tech geeks playing around with it.
The free access during the initial months definitely helped it spread like wildfire.
Some companies started integrating ChatGPT into their products early 2023 which also increased visibility.
Remember when everyone was trying to use ChatGPT to write essays and code? That was wild.
Don't forget the social media hype. TikTok and Twitter were full of ChatGPT demos that went viral around early 2023.
It got popular so fast it kinda felt like it came out of nowhere!
It might be worth noting that sometimes these AI tools take a bit to catch on with the general public.
I think the timing was perfect too — people were ready for an AI assistant like this.
I guess it’s a combination of timing, tech, and word of mouth that made it popular.
I think the user-friendly interface and free access during the initial period helped a lot too.
Wasn't there a huge surge in usage when it was featured in some popular YouTubers’ videos?
I heard some folks mention you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools alongside ChatGPT.
