People often forget that a lot of tech stuff impacts the planet. ChatGPT is prob one part of a bigger picture with AI and cloud stuff. We should look at the whole system, not just one app.
I've read that training these large models takes a ton of energy, but it's hard to find clear numbers on the actual impact. Anyone got solid info?
Honestly, I think the hype around ChatGPT's environmental damage is a bit blown out. Sure, it uses energy, but compared to other industries, it's not the worst offender imo.
