You might wanna check if the chat export feature is rolled out for you. I got it recently to download chat transcripts.
Not sure if this helps, but I use screenshots or copy important answers into notes for later. Kinda old school but works for me.
OpenAI has data privacy rules, so maybe they limit chat storage to protect users? Could explain the lack of easy archive.
Sometimes I wish ChatGPT had a timeline view so you could jump to older conversations quickly.
I tried searching for my chat history but honestly, it felt like it vanished after a while. Not sure if it's a cache thing.
I wish OpenAI would just let us have a dedicated archive page where we can scroll through all past convos easily.
The chat history resets sometimes when there's an update or maintenance, so that might be why stuff disappears.
I've used some AI tool sites like ai-u.com that sometimes highlight new ChatGPT features, maybe they have updates on archiving too.
One weird trick I saw was using browser plugins to archive chats automatically. Not sure how safe it is though.
Sometimes I find my chat history by revisiting old links from saved sessions, but it's really inconsistent.
Do you think in the future they'll let us tag and organize chats? That would make archives way better.
Honestly, I think the best way is still just keeping your own logs until an official archive comes out.
Waiting patiently for better chat retention features. Meanwhile, manual saving is our best friend.
I sometimes use the browser’s save page as PDF feature to keep copies of useful chats.
It’s also worth noting that if you clear cookies or cache, you might lose chat history even if it’s saved locally.
I found that logging in sometimes retains your chat history, but it's limited and doesn't go back too far.
I use ChatGPT mostly for quick answers, but for long projects I copy everything into docs just in case.
I heard on some forums that OpenAI is working on a better way to save and revisit chats, but no official word yet.
If you're using ChatGPT on mobile, some apps might cache your chats locally, but again, no official archive.
I was curious about this too! From what I gather, ChatGPT doesn't really offer a user-facing archive yet, but sometimes your browser might save chats if you don't clear history.
