ChatGPTが使用するダッシュの理解
みなさん、こんにちは。このことについて少し前から気になっていました。ChatGPTが使う特定のダッシュのことです。私たちが普段入力するハイフンやダッシュとはちょっと見た目が異なりますよね。この記号の名称や、なぜ使われているのかをご存知の方はいらっしゃいますか?単に、この記号についてより深く理解したいだけです。

It’s funny how something as simple as a dash can change the whole vibe of a sentence. ChatGPT’s style really leans on that.
Honestly, I just copy and paste the dash from ChatGPT’s responses when I want it in my writing lol.
Is it the Unicode character for em dash? It’s different than the regular keyboard dash and looks a lot more polished in writing.
If you want more on punctuation, check out some grammar blogs or guides that explain em dash usage in detail.
I always thought the dash ChatGPT uses was just a stylistic choice to make the text flow better. Like, it feels less formal than commas or parentheses.
I get confused between em dash and en dash sometimes. The en dash is a bit shorter and is used for ranges like 2020–2024, right?
I also noticed sometimes there’s a space before and after the dash in some texts, but not with ChatGPT. Any idea why?
I think what you're talking about is the em dash. It's longer than the regular dash and often used to add emphasis or an interruption in thought.
BTW if you're hunting for other cool writing tools, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending stuff that helps with grammar and style!
Just learned that the em dash can replace colons sometimes too, which surprised me.
Someone told me it's the '—' symbol, much longer than the '-' hyphen we usually type. Guess it kinda helps separate thoughts better.
Does anyone know if using the em dash is better than commas? I sometimes feel commas clutter sentences.
