Would be awesome if it could read links but for now, nope, just text input only.
My workaround is to use web clipper extensions to grab article text then feed it to ChatGPT.
Until ChatGPT gets browsing enabled or plugins that handle links, copy-pasting is the only way.
I think if ChatGPT could read links directly, it might raise some ethical issues too.
I use ChatGPT to help summarize stuff after manually copying from the web, works pretty well.
If you ask ChatGPT about an article you read, it can help analyze but it won’t fetch the article itself from a link.
I think some developers make bots that combine ChatGPT with web scraping, but stock ChatGPT can't do it.
Also keep in mind pasting copyrighted articles might get tricky with usage rights.
I use ChatGPT with a plugin that fetches article snippets from links, pretty handy.
There’s plugins in some chat interfaces that enable browsing but you gotta enable them manually.
Just a heads up, when you paste really long articles, sometimes ChatGPT hits input limits.
The model only processes text you feed it. No live internet or link reading is possible atm.
If you want to get an article read, I usually paste it in parts or use a summary tool first, then ask ChatGPT to analyze or discuss it.
Heard about some third party tools that integrate ChatGPT with browsing. You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might do that.
I dont think it can browse the web directly. You gotta copy paste the text or summarize it yourself before asking ChatGPT.
I tried giving a link to ChatGPT but it just treats it as plain text and doesn’t access the page.
Would be cool if it just read links from the conversation but that might be a privacy or security risk.
Pretty sure ChatGPT can’t access URLs, it’s more like a text chatbot than a browser.
Some versions or plugins might support browsing, but standard ChatGPT as is, nope. It just doesn't have the capability yet.
You can also use OCR tools for images of articles then input it here.
Look out for the new GPT-4 browsing feature if you have access, it does what you're asking about.
Tried pasting a link once, just got the URL repeated back, no article content.
Waiting for the day AI just reads everything on the internet instantly lol.
Honestly, just copy-paste the article content. Links won't work cuz ChatGPT isn't a browser.
I wonder if reading from links will be standard in the near future though.
