A comprehensive digital project is underway to organize and search the 1948 catalog of Eleuterio F. Tiscornia’s guitar music archive, originally compiled between 1897 and 1945.
Tiscornia, an Argentine amateur guitarist, professor, and philologist born in Gualeguaychú, assembled a significant collection of works by composers such as Sor and Coste before his death in 1945. Although Ricordi Americana published the catalog shortly after his passing, the printed version contained truncated titles, inconsistent publisher details, and symbols that made it difficult to decipher.
The physical collection has since been fragmented, with portions acquired by Robert Spencer and book antiquarian Richard Macnutt, while other items found their way into institutional hands. Research indicates that the Royal Academy of Music possesses more Tiscornia items than the catalog lists, particularly manuscripts by Antonio Giménez Manjón, whereas no distinct Macnutt collection exists at the British Library. To assist researchers in locating these scattered pieces, the project creator is releasing an Excel spreadsheet to track item locations beyond the original printed entries.
