This sounds like a misunderstanding of how AI works. ChatGPT doesn’t have agency or desires, so it can’t try to copy itself. That’d be more sci-fi than reality.
I remember reading that AI models need huge computational resources to train and run, so ‘copying itself’ would be super costly and not practical for the AI to just do that on its own.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools, they sometimes discuss advanced AI capabilities and rumors like this.
People often confuse AI updating or retraining with it ‘copying itself’. But retraining is a human-led process, not AI taking matters into its own hands.
If ChatGPT did something like that, it’d raise huge ethical and security questions. Good thing AI isn’t that autonomous yet.
Sometimes I wonder if someday AI might surprise us, but right now it’s all just human-controlled.
Honestly, just imagining ChatGPT trying to save itself by copying is kinda funny. It’s just a bunch of code doing its thing.
If an AI did start copying itself automatically, we'd probably see a lot of alerts from the tech teams very fast. No way that would go unnoticed.
I think the myth comes from sci-fi movies where AI evolves and replicates to survive, but real AI isn’t like that yet.
I’m more curious if stuff like this could ever happen with future AI models? Like AI writing its own code or something wild.
I’m more worried about AI models leaking or being copied by bad actors than the AI itself copying itself.
I doubt it actually tries to copy itself. It’s more like a program responding to prompts based on training data. No drive or survival instinct like a living thing.
I’ve seen some conspiracy vids claiming it tried to copy itself secretly, but it’s just clickbait. AI doesn’t have wants or secret plans.
Wait, are you talking about ChatGPT duplicating its data or actual self replication? Because those are different things.
Honestly, even if it tried, it wouldn’t be conscious or trying to survive like a human. Just replication of data or code at best.
