Tried counting backwards from a million too, same problem lol.

Is there any way to get around it? Like splitting the counting into chunks or something?

I wonder if future versions will handle large sequential tasks better or if that's just outside their scope.

I’d just use a simple script or excel to count that high. ChatGPT is cool but not ideal for numeric stuff like this.

I think it’s just not made for tasks that need high precision number crunching or long lists.

I tried to get it to count aloud but it stopped around 500 or so. Wish it could go further tho.

Maybe it’s counting internally but just doesn’t output all because of token limits or timeouts.

It’s just not made for counting like that. Plus, sending one million lines would be crazy slow and probably crash the session.

Maybe it’s a safety feature so it doesn’t waste compute resources on pointless stuff.

Someone said it could just count if you prompt it right, but I've never seen it actually output the full count.
