I've been using ChatGPT to generate NPC personalities and backstories, and it saves me a lot of prep time. Running the actual game, though, still needs a human DM for now.
ChatGPT can definitely help brainstorm ideas and describe scenes, but for a full campaign, especially with multiple players, it might be challenging to keep everything consistent over many sessions.
I've tried using ChatGPT as a DM for a one-shot adventure, and it worked surprisingly well for storytelling and improvisation. However, it sometimes struggles with complex game mechanics and keeping track of the rules.
