Hey folks, lately I’ve been seeing a message from ChatGPT saying I reached my limit. Kinda confusing since I didn’t think I used it that much. Anyone else getting this or know why it happens? Would love to understand what’s going on and if there’s a way around it.

I think the limits depend on your usage plan. If you are using a free account, the system restricts how many prompts you can send per day. Upgrade solves this probs.
Yeah, I ran into this too! Apparently, the free tier has a daily cap and once you hit it, you just gotta wait till the next day. Bit annoying but makes sense.
The limits might change depending on how busy their servers are too, I’ve noticed variability.
Do you think it counts API usage separately from regular web chat?
I think upgrading to ChatGPT Plus gets you unlimited access, right? That might be worth it if you use it a lot.
Sometimes it might also be a glitch or server issue. I usually just refresh and try again after a few minutes.
I heard some people get the limit message even when they haven’t used ChatGPT much. Could be a bug?
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools, some might have different limits or free tiers.
The limits can feel random but usually it’s a daily cap or monthly quota depending on your subscription.
For free users, the limit is usually around 20 prompts per day last I checked. Not sure if it changed.
I got that message once after trying to generate a super long text. Maybe length counts too?
I get that message when I open ChatGPT in multiple tabs. Maybe it counts usage across all open windows?
Sometimes clearing cache or cookies helped me when limits seemed off.
If you're on mobile and desktop, usage counts together so keep that in mind.
Had the same problem and contacted support. They said it’s a standard limit and nothing to worry about.
I think the message is triggered if your IP sends too many requests too fast. Try slowing down your queries.
I just wait a few hours when I hit the limit and then it works again, no big deal.
