I've read articles saying that embedding watermarks in text is really hard compared to images or videos, so they haven't done it yet for ChatGPT output.
I think the main reason they don’t put watermarks is because the text might get copied or paraphrased, making the watermark useless in practice.
From what I heard, OpenAI might be looking into ways to identify AI-generated text but currently, there's no watermark inserted in the actual text output.
Oh, interesting question! I've never noticed anything like a watermark. If it were there, I guess it would be easier to spot AI generated stuff.
I remember reading that OpenAI was researching ways to watermark generated text but haven’t released anything yet publicly.
If you want to check if text is AI-generated, I'd recommend some of the AI detection tools out there, but remember they aren't 100% accurate.
I think the only way to tell if text is from ChatGPT is through AI detection tools that analyze writing style, not because of any watermark inside the text itself.
If watermarking text was possible, I think they would have done it already for plagiarism and copyright reasons. But so far, it seems tech isn't there yet.
Just to add, some AI detectors try to find statistical fingerprints from AI models, but that's different from an explicit watermark embedded in the text.
I've looked into this before and as far as I know, ChatGPT doesn't add any kind of watermark or hidden signature within the text it produces. It's just plain text, nothing special added.
You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might include watermarking or detection features if you're interested in that kind of thing.
Honestly, I never thought about watermarking in text before, but now that you mention it, it seems tricky to do without messing up the writing flow.
Are you worried about getting flagged for AI use? Just curious since watermarking would make that easier.
Honestly, I think the best way is to just use AI responsibly and not rely on watermarks or detection at all.
Nope, ChatGPT outputs plain text without any invisible marks or signatures. If you copy paste it anywhere, it looks just like normal writing.
My guess is that if any watermarking was done, it'd be more on the server side or metadata rather than the actual text output.
