If you’re on a corporate or school network, sometimes the IT policies block clipboard sharing in browsers. That could be why.
Clearing your cache and cookies might help too. Occasionally some old data messes with the clipboard function.
I use the desktop app version of ChatGPT and copying works fine there, maybe give that a try?
Yup, I've had that happen sometimes. Usually, switching browsers helps, like moving from Chrome to Firefox. Might be some weird clipboard restrictions.
Sometimes when multiple tabs are open running ChatGPT, clipboard access gets buggy. Closing extras can help.
Try copying the text into a simple text editor first, then copy it again from there before pasting where you want. Works for me.
FYI you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might offer better clipboard support or alternatives.
Sometimes the chat interface might disable selection temporarily during updates or loading. Wait a bit and try again.
I never had issues but I usually just highlight the text and drag it to another app instead of copy-pasting.
Sometimes the problem is just accidental with the right click menu disabled on the chat window. Using keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+C/Cmd+C usually works better.
Are you on a Mac? Sometimes the clipboard behaves different on macOS apps versus browsers.
I noticed if you select too fast or double click weirdly it sometimes doesn’t highlight correctly and copy fails. Slow selection works better.
Another tip: use the share feature to export or save conversations if copy paste is acting up.
Also, some people have suggested disabling browser extensions that block scripts or modify clipboard behavior. That might be the culprit.
I’m guessing it depends on what device you’re using. On mobile, copying text from apps can be a pain sometimes.
