了解 ChatGPT 的阅读限制
大家好,我一直很好奇 ChatGPT 一次实际能处理多少文本。比如,它是否有页数限制之类的规定?如果能了解这一点,我在项目中使用它时就能更好地规划了。

You can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might help with handling big docs with AI.
Honestly, it’s kinda annoying that you gotta chunk your text manually sometimes. Wish there was a smoother way to feed longer docs.
I wonder if the token limit includes the prompt and your question too, not just the text you input?
Anyone noticed differences in reading limits when using ChatGPT in different apps or websites?
I think the main limit comes from the token count, not pages. ChatGPT can handle around 4,000 tokens in one go, so that roughly translates to a few pages depending on the text density.
Cool to see there’s so much talk about token limits rather than pages. Makes sense cuz pages aren’t consistent.
I’m curious if the formatting of the text affects how many tokens it uses, and thus the page count ChatGPT can handle?
Anyone else struggle with the AI losing context when the text gets too long?
Is there a way to increase the reading capacity somehow, like with paid plans or special versions?
I wonder if the reading limit is impacted by the format? Like plain text vs PDFs vs images?
I tested feeding in a 20-page PDF by pasting text, and it just cut off after a while. So yeah, there’s definitely a hard limit.
I tried uploading a big contract and it stopped responding after a while. So I guess contracts are pretty heavy in tokens!
Can anyone confirm if this limit is the same across all versions? Like GPT-3.5 vs GPT-4?
I heard the newer GPT-4 turbo model can handle like 128k tokens now. That’s crazy for pages.
Sometimes I just summarize big docs in parts and then ask ChatGPT to summarize the summaries. Works pretty well for long reads.
Does anyone know if ChatGPT can ‘remember’ earlier pages if you feed them in multiple times during the same session?
Is there any official doc from OpenAI about the exact token/page limits?
How do you guys usually break up large texts? I’m looking for some easy ways to do it properly.
I’m using ChatGPT for research papers, and I usually feed in intro and conclusion separately to get summaries. That works better than one huge chunk.
I once tried to feed in a whole book, but had to split it into dozens of parts. Took a while but was worth it!
